The Bite Process with OrthoSport Canada

Orthosport Canada’s bite process will require two appointments with one of our neuromuscular dentists. The 1st visit is to take full impressions of the top and bottom teeth; as well as an optimized bite registration with the jaw in is most relaxed position. This process will take about 30 to 45 minutes. The second visit is the fitting by our neuromuscular dentist; to ensure maximum comfort and performance of the appliance.

What Is Tempo-Tilt technology?
Remember Michael Air Jordan? He’s best known for sticking out his tongue while driving the lane and launching into the air before every dunk. Why did he do this? Not for style, not for swag, for performance!

Why is this important to athletes?
When an athlete clenches their teeth, it pinches the nerves that run through the tempo mandibular joint (the jaw)
This action causes the body to produce a performance crippling hormone called cortisol.

What is cortisol?
Cortisol is a hormone that increases the heartrate, blood pressure and lactic acid levels causing athletes power, speed and endurance to be depleted.

Orthosport’s performance enhancing dental appliance not only relaxes the jaw and prevents the athlete from clenching. It opens the airway, allowing for 28% more oxygen intake! Also, by realigning the jaw to the most natural position, it realigns the head neck and spine. This allows the athletes muscle to be much more relaxed and efficient, increasing balance, flexibility, range of motion and agility.

Beware of home impression kits!!

Taking impressions SAFELY AND CORRECTLY is NO easy task!! It takes years of schooling and training, and should only be performed by a licensed dentist. Some of our competitors will send you a “do it yourself” impression kit that you will mail back to them when you take your own impressions! This is extremely dangerous for inexperienced individuals due to the possibility of choking on the molding material, as well as the un intentional removal of teeth or dental work! NOT EVERYONE’S A DENTIST.

They are also forgetting the most important step, THE BITE REGISTRATION! It is impossible to fabricate any performance dental appliance correctly without an optimized bite registration; therefore the “do it yourself” kits are not as effective as they claim to be.
